Cuba

Tour overview
What do you think of when someone mentions Cuba? Mojito cocktails on a beach? The Cuban missile crisis of 1962? Salsa dancing? Expensive cigars? Glimmering 50s American cars? Fidel Castro and Che Guevara? Cuba is certainly all that, but also so much more! Our Cuba Birding tour takes you to a top global birding destination.Cuba, actually an archipelago of nearly 4,200 islands and islets, is located in the northern Caribbean Sea at the confluence with the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Cuba is home to six terrestrial ecoregions: moist forests, dry forests, pine forests, wetlands, cactus scrub and Greater Antilles mangroves. This habitat diversity is excellent for birds! The country boasts 28 endemics, 18 Globally Threatened species and several Caribbean specialities among its total list of almost 400. Furthermore Cuba is an essential stopover point for many North American migratory birds during their annual travels. It can also lay claim to having the world’s smallest bird, the impossibly cute Bee Hummingbird!

Apart from the excellent birding, Cuba also offers a vibrant cultural heritage, fascinating history, great cuisine, amazing architecture, warm and friendly people, beautiful landscapes and much more. Get ready for a truly unique birding trip in this tropical paradise!
