Bird of the week – Barred Buttonquail

Small, secretive, and full of surprises! The Barred Buttonquail is not a true quail and flips bird behavior on its head — the female is the bolder one, brightly marked and doing the courting! Known for their low booming calls and quick-footed dashes through undergrowth.
