The Blue-throated Roller performs acrobatic flights, its brilliant colors a dazzling display against the backdrop of the sky.

Day 6: Dzanga Bai and Saline tour.

The day’s highlight will be our visit with a troop of habituated Agile Mangabey. This extraordinary group, with more than 150 individuals, has been the subject of extensive behavioural research conducted in the area. As we spend time with these inquisitive and energetic primates, you will get the chance to use your lens to document their fascinating antics and social connections. Their animated actions, such as playfulness and grooming routines, offer a special and personal glimpse into the intricate lives of these sentient beings.

The Agile Mangabey is an interesting species of Old-World monkey that occurs between Garamba and the Semliki River throughout various Central African countries, primarily found in the areas north of the Congo River. Dense forests in Cameroon, northeastern Gabon, northern Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, and potentially Equatorial Guinea are within their range.

These monkeys favour lush, humid habitats but can survive in a range of forested areas. They are typically found in locations close to freshwater bodies, flooded woodlands, and marsh forests. Some populations, meanwhile, have adapted to live further away from water sources in forests that are not flooded. Agile Mangabeys are most frequently observed in the forest understory of these varied environments, where they adeptly manoeuvre through the thick undergrowth. These diurnal primates are mostly arboreal, spending most of their time in trees, but they also frequently come down to the ground to travel and feed, especially during the dry season.

The Agile Mangabey is distinguished from other mangabey species by having bare upper eyelids that contrast with their darker facial skin. This makes them members of the white-eyelid group. Their remarkable look is enhanced by this distinctive quality, which makes them instantly identifiable. Agile Mangabeys are renowned for being gregarious and energetic, and for moving gracefully and with agility through their forest habitats.

This day is a fascinating and unforgettable component of your journey because of the breathtaking scenery, varied animals, and opportunity to see and photograph the Agile Mangabeys. A closer relationship with the forest’s inherent rhythms and the amazing species that live there is provided by each passing moment.

Day 7: Day at leisure with optional activities.
You have an extra day to tailor your adventure to your interests and fully immerse yourself in the surrounding wilderness. Whether you prefer a day of relaxation or more exploration, the choice is yours.
